Hello everyone! Today I’d like to tell you about the Palanga Resort Museum. I’ll say right away that the museum is fantastic, with lots of interactive features and is housed in a beautiful building. I think it’ll be interesting for both children and adults, so go ahead!

Villa Anapilis, a house with legends and a special atmosphere

Palanga resort Museum

The Palanga Resort Museum is located in the striking historic Anapilis Villa on Birutės Street, close to the city center and the coast. This late 19th-century mansion boasts an architectural style rare in Lithuania and is associated with Countess Tiškevičienė, a member of the renowned Tiškevičiai family.

The name “Anapilis” can be translated as “the other world” or “the afterlife,” and many legends are associated with the villa. In the early 20th century, spiritualistic séances were allegedly held here, giving the house a reputation as a mystical place. A so-called “wind organ” was previously installed in the villa, but it no longer exists.

Since 2014, the Anapilis Villa has officially housed the Palanga Resort Museum, and in 2019, a modern historical exhibition was opened there, dedicated to the resort’s development from a small seaside village to a renowned Baltic resort destination.

A special highlight is the opportunity to take a photo in a stylized “retro” format, reminiscent of vacationers from the early 20th century. It’s a popular souvenir: many tourists leave the museum not only with new knowledge but also with a fun shot in the style of old resort albums.
